The class or seminar you hated the most

Every Advanced Class Special was a boring waste of time. Sitting in too-close-together seats wondering when he would get to the point.

The last couple of Word in Business & Profession conferences stopped having anything to do with business or profession and became advanced class specials.

The Rise and Expansion class, taught "live" by region or limb coordinators. :sleep1:

First of all, the book was only marginally about the history of the book of Acts, it was all about grinding on and on about the words used in the so-called "8 Great Statements" and analyzing them to death.

Ditto what others have said about Way Tree. Wierwille based it (supposedly) on the "leaders of 10's, 50's, 100's, etc in Exodus that Moses set up, but you don't see anything like a heirarchal structure in Acts. Their are leaders, sure, and ministers, but no pyramid structure.

Between 1974-1999 I sat through them all. Sometimes they were 15-hour classes in a single weekend. Three hours Friday night, nine hours Saturday, and three more Sunday morning. Then back to work or school on Monday.

And as if the class wasn't already long enough, add a long-winded coordinator to rehash what you just watched. Then there was the obligitory presentation of the gift and card to the coordinator.

Really!, during all those years you should have stuck to the leave it to beaver...I love Eddie Haskell, Beverly Hillbillies and Mr. Ed re-runs. What a waste of time! Pod casts came out too late I guess??

I'll have to be honest. I actually liked most of the classes while I was in TWI.. For the first time that is.. Nothing like sitting through something new. But just as with movies, once I've seen it, I don't care for it no matter how good.. And TWI always wanted you to see it again. And again. And again.. And Again.. And what, again??!! And then not only that, but you were suppose to have learned something each time!!

Are we idiots? Could we not grasp the few major points shared in the @#%^$@ hours that we spent the first time listening to them pointed out over and over, that we need somehow to go back and rehearse the same thing again and again.. HELLO! I'm not stupid!! I got it the first time.. Now lets move on!!

Course I feel the same about most teachings in any church.. Boring. heard it or studied it. No, seriously.. I'd get much more out of a pastor at a church saying here's the point! 5 minutes maybe.. But a whole freaking hour about the same thing I already know. Being reminded is one thing, being led to sleep in a class or sermon is another! Not that I have itching ears always desiring something 'new'. But the gathering of the saints was never for the purpose of relieving certain "leadership" saints of their need to lecture others from their vast superior wisdom for hours. It was more for a place of helping one another with their needs which unless their was some dialogue, the "superior wisdom' of the leader wouldn't be enough to tell them what I need to hear! And I'm sure if anyone had their pick, hearing someone speak for hours on the same topic, or being involved in a conversation with people on the same topic, the later would be much more profitable!

Oh well.. The classes weren't all that bad though the first time. However, after leaving and studying, it's always good to get a fresh view of what scripture "really" says!

However, the top boredom award for the first time through a class would have to go to "Biblical Principles of Believer's Family"... I was single, and even if I wasn't, there was nothing new and mostly LCM opinion.

Yep......it was the bottom-of-the-barrel-of-the-bunch. :yawn1:

One segment was entitled "Unfinished Business".......where craig made references to rural homes and property that had broken fences, unfinished buildings, things in disarray, etc....trying to make the point that a believer's family stays disciplined and focused.

Uuummm, craig.............kinda left your marriage and family "unfinished" wouldn't you say????

This audio class, at a $30 price, with a two-page handout was martindale's attempt to flush all the old wineskins, aka vpw-classes, from twi around the 1995 era.

The Advanced Class Special 1992 was by far the worst...legalism rampant, Corps turning each other in for menial and made up offenses, being reproved over a cup of coffee, being chewed out because I worked 48 straight hours then took a break from a class to sleep two hours, LCM saying he would never change the PFAL class and then did...LCM talking about a couple who disagreed with him changing the Advanced Class. The weather turning windy and stormy...mean looks for no reason at all...it was a place turned into Helll.

The second worst...Christain Family and Sex class...VPW discussing the size and shapes of penises and graphic description of sexual techniques...and a porn video after class to "loosen us up about sex."

Maybe that was the worst...no...close...The Advanced Class Special 92 is the tops of the worst list to me.

I know Christian Family & Sex was bizzare but at least it wasn't boring. I mean, where else can you hear the man of god of the world list in rapid-fire delivery what had to be at least twenty slang names for the anus?

Oh, and when I took it in the mid-seventies they showed what looked like cartoon drawings of hymens. Someone near me shouted out that one of them looked like "goofy grape". That's one of those stupid things that stuck in my brain and it'll probably be there until I die.

It would have to be Christian Family and Sex. My parents had me take it when I was 12 and I was constantly embarassed. I didn't even know what they meant when they were talking about masterbation. And those pictures,,, OMG to a 12 year old girl,,, Talk about embarassing.

Now you see... for me it was opposite.

I was a 13 year old boy taking that class. It was the greatest thing in my young life. I was literally captivated. Me and my friend took it together. He was 12. We had the best time in that class.

We took notes like we had never taken notes before.

and we knew what he meant when he was talking about masterbation... :|

Boggles my mind that parents would consider that class-

complete with the pictures of naked people thru a considerable portion of that class-

was acceptable to have a 12-year-old girl to attend,

let along RECOMMEND she take it.

This, to me, ranks up there with the live CFS classes when vpw showed the pornographic

movie of the 2 women doing stuff to that dog, and there were under-18s

in attendance.

funny to see the male perspective. And what knowledge a 13 year old boy has compared to a 12 year old girl. lol. When I was 14 or 15 I got to take that class again and the guy who was my boyfriend at the time took it with me. I was up visiting he and his mom the weekend the class was going on and we actually sat next to each other. I was once again totally embarassed.

WW:

You know looking back at it now we think, OMG how could we let our children watch porn. But to my parents it was presented as a necessary step in our walk with God. It was the first time my parents took the class as well. I don't really know what was going through mom's head as she sat there with my dad, myself, and my brother who was 15 at the time.

Hey mom if you're reading this thread what went through your mind when you realized the content of the class. That would be funny to know!

It's funny now but maybe at the time my mom was mordified but allowed it because the Way said it was ok.
