The purpose of this is not to get into this to be judgmental towards this group of people. This is more towards defining the position of TWI, as their words and the fruit evident here as with so many other things just does not line up.

Under VPW's reign, it certainly was 100% against, but required "proof" before any detrimental action was taken.

Under the Forehead's reign, the Foundational Class closed out with Romans 1 and a rant against it, purges were made throughout Staff / Way D / Corps / fellowships to kick out people under the pretext of "genuine spiritual suspicion", very vulgar public teachings made against it.

Under Rozilla's reign, who knows? No more purges for sure. Some evidence of people with the appearance of living as lesbian couples on staff at HQ. Rozilla and Donna the 2 highest officers suspected of a les relationship. Many unmarried single ladies in positions of power at TWI, especially Donna's relatives. References to teaching against homosexuality removed from the Foundational Class, although all the rest of the FNC structure was retained. Teachings in Believer's Family Class don't directly address it being wrong, but skirt the issue by teaching that the intent of sex is between a heterosexual married couple.

So, what is the story here? Inquiring minds want to know. TWI's roots are seemingly very Fundamentalist - literal interpretation of the Bible, etc. Have they become "more progressive"? How do they explain seemingly literal Bible passages that are thumped on by fire and brimstone Fundamentalist preachers all over the world?

What is the real story?

I don't know how it is there currently, but when I was there, late '70s - early to mid '80s, it always seemed to me, that, if it were men who were doing it, or caught, it was not tolerated. I think male homosexuality still would not be tolerated today.

But, since women/women is the no. 1 male fantasy, I think women were given a pass. If you couldn't prove it, or didn't get caught, I think there were a few couples. In fact, I think there were some who were/are openly gay among the "top" leadership, JM and her girls come to mind. All the gay girls seemed to be really good friends with top female leadership. DM would encourage women in residence to sleep with each other - platonically of course. I always thought that was so weird - but it was sanctioned by VP.

So, concerning women, I think Don't Ask, Don't Tell was the norm. Unless you made it obvious to the regular joe believer. I can think of one relationship that went on and another leader found out and it was broken up but the ladies were never fired.

There was a double standard. Men - hell no - don't even think about it. Women, ok, just be discrete.

At least, that's the way it was when I was there.

Are you for real, Sunesis???

JMwas there when I was in rez (time of LCM's great rants) and (no idea how this came up) she said she had been a lez but had been healed of that and (big laugh) that's what a finger was for (brandishing her finger).

I was grossed out and avoided her ever after.

Yes I'm for real, why? What did I say that most earlier corps pretty much didn't know?

Oh yes, JM - everytime she was allowed to speak, her first words were - Hi! I'm JM and I was a lesbian but I'm delivered" as we all rolled our eyes and snickered and thought, why sure you are sweetie - NOT!

Not my #1 fantasy, either.

Wierwille had an attitude toward homosexuality that pretty much typified his generation. (At least the attitude that he displayed publicly) I really don't think he actually understood very much about homosexuality beyond what goes on at the basic nuts and bolts level.

Ok gentlemen, maybe its not your fantasy, but in polls - it is for many men. Who do you think is watching the hot girl on girl action porn? Its not really the ladies. But, I did read somewhere that is men's no. 1 fantasy (except for TWI men :)) Whatever, let's move on...

From what I've read, there are some questionable female couples at HQ now. But I bet there are no questionable male couples.

Advanced Class either '81 or '83. V.P. was teaching and he mentioned a certain female professional athlete who TWI used heavily as a PFAL success story. All of a sudden we stopped hearing anything about her. I think we had her picture up in the Ambassador Room at Emporia along with other PFAL professional athletes, and then it was taken down without explanation. It was rumored she was a lesbian.

At the Advanced Class V.P. talked about it and he talked about counseling her. He said he had her write down what attracted her sexually to other women and other things about lesbian attraction. Even as a Way Corps drone I was getting the impression that Wierwille was getting a sexual charge from the whole thing. I remember thinking it was strange, but that he must know what he was doing.

I never saw her around again and never heard of her again on the professional sports circuit of which she competed. Knowing his style of counseling young women in need, one can only speculate what might have happened. So, yeah, I think he might have had a fascination with lesbian sex.

JavaJane,

JM is J*net Myr*cle.

She definitely had the air of lesbianism while she at HQ in the late 90s. Rumor has it she shared a bed with another single corps girl in Rozilla's home. I say it's a rumor because I only heard about it. I trust the the other staff person who saw the situation when they went to work on something in JM and SC's room. Supposedly the department coordinator of MSP had a cow about it.

She and SC went out on the field TOGETHER!! Then they left TWI. LCM was really peesed off about that one and they were lunch time topics.....

Thanks for the info, Notta... Crazy stuff! Especially when you start thinking about LCM's whole "original sin of mankind" insanity.

I'm betting the Rosie-Donna girl on girl action is not ANY man's number one fantasy...

What the h are they holding up in that picture?

Probably a leaf or vegetable or something from that garden. It kinda reminds me of a lot of the photos I've taken over the years.

"Geeze, Dad, What the heck is that in the picture??"

"Why, it's a right front fender from a '57 Chevy, can't you plainly see that?" :biglaugh:

Yea, probably. It just struck me as a Lilith Fair kind of "I celebrate the female anatomy" kind of a picture. But I'm sure I'm just reading into it.

i did think it looked like a leafy vagina

but what i really wanted to say is that when i saw the title of thread i thought it said policy on homosexuality / beastialty (sp?

i'm serious

i always thought DM and MF(G)were homosexual lovers

there was one guy in the 6th i believe on staff in kansas and he married this lovely gal who was also on staff and i think she was 6th. it was heartbreaking -- really -- she used to be a nun and then she married him but he was still always going downtown to emporia to be with men. she was devastated. i cried my eyes out with her because of the cover-up, using her as a front, type thing. she left and went home to her parents. we wrote to each other for a while. he probably got fired. i'm trying to remember. but all of it was sad.

oh, what is so insane is rosalie's hypocrisy

i personally don't care, but she is like a liar from hell

another time in gunnison i was on bless patrol during the sunday night service. i walked into a room and there were two gals -- 9th and 11th -- in bed together giggling. i just walked out.

  • 3 weeks later...

I took the Advanced Class in New Knoxville around 1972 or so...

Victor taught that homosexuality was a devil spirit in that class.

delusional pea-brain

I wish we would just accept the modest percent of the population that don't fit into 1950's morality categories

Then we could get on with significant issues like avoiding war and poverty.

I guess that LGBT reality bothers fundamentalists

because that kind of faith sucks

as a basis for supporting healthy sexuality.

sexuality is a wonderfully complex thing

if you can't handle

that it's not black or white

just try to be humble and quiet

and let the rest of humanity around you live,

and make love in committed relationships, in peace.

but NO! You have to assert how righteous YOU are.

God NEEDS you to set things into neat categories.

May I remind all of us that life is short?

DO you wish to be remembered as someone who let others live in peace?

or as someone who persecuted people for their less-than-conventional sexuality?

edited to reflect my belief that promiscuity, equally present in all orientations IS a sin
