What Are We Going to Do Without Twinkies?

Twinkies, and Hostess chocolate cupcakes with the squiggle on top Ring-Dings, Devil Dogs....are about to go the way of the Studebaker. The only thing is....there were plenty of cars to replace the Studebaker, but nothing is the same as a Twinkie! Twinkies are like Wise Potato Chips, Hershey's Chocolate, Three Musketeer Bars. No matter where you were,...you could go anywhere and get one or 3!

I used to indulge whenever I wanted one, but now that I'm older, I'm more careful....haven't had one in a year, perhaps. But now I feel like I lost my blankee (like when I was very young). The stores around here seem to be running out of them already! - sigh -

What are your thoughts? How do you think you'll cope?

Someone else will revive them. If the demand is there, someone will supply it.

Indeed. All of the hype and hoopla this week serves only to increase the value of the brand and that brand

will be sold as a part of liquidation of the company's assets.

Twinkies, perhaps unfortunately, won't be going away for good.

Probably the first two words are most important. "Eat food" means to eat real food -- vegetables, fruits, whole grains, and, yes, fish and meat -- and to avoid what Pollan calls "edible food-like substances."

Pollan specifically cites Twinkies in what he says are edible food-like substances.

They were owned by Hostess and have closed up shop as well, according to news reports I have seen.

What?

Aw, man, they had the best fruit pies!

*checks*

Well, Tasykakes and Little Debbie are still around.

With openings in the market, both can expand with new products to fill demand.

Twinkie Survival Recipe

Buy a pack of (4) of those strawberry "shortcakes", the yellowish spongy ones, most superkmarkets carry them near the strawberries. .

Buy (1) can of Reddi Whip.

Lay one shortcake in the palm of your hand, facing up.

Shake the can of RW and press the nozzle in the EXACT middle of the shortcake, dead - center, EXACTLY, please.

Squirt about a 1/2 cup of Reddi Whip into the area.

Wrap the shortcake around the 1/2 cup of RW, using a slow but firm motion of the hand.

Clean up any spillage.

Serve. Each one forms about 3 big bites so make 2 - 3 per person.

Eat.

Thanks, Human :)

And here is another recipe:

Twinky Survival Recipe

Take 1 bottle of red wine (Merlot is quite nice)

Take 1 Indian Readymeal

Optional extra: some variety of cheesecake.

Place Indian ready meal in microwave for about 10 mins or as specified on wrapper.

Pour red wine into glasses.

Eat and drink.

Serve cheesecake a little later with coffee and/or brandy.

Best enjoyed with at least one other person.

Particularly good on Friday evenings.

I bought a box of Twinkies in my local Kroger grocery last week. This week, they're all gone!

George

That's extraordinary will power you've got (your family). Our family made it only 5 days tops.

Did you notice that their smaller? Maybe that's a good thing. laugh.gif

I just tried a cup cake for the first time tonight and I noticed their about half the size as before.
