  1. Sourdough Bakers Could Save The World!! https://herald-review.com/lifestyles/health-med-fit/all-that-sourdough-youve-been-making-could-help-scientists/article_e323c5d9-019c-51d6-aa93-04b9cf22cc6e.html
  2. Nice Four grain loaf. 1. Whole Wheat 2. Dark Rye, 3. Spelt, 4. White. This recipe, from http://Breadtopia.com/ is a three day process. Day 1: Mix whole wheat flour and starter for 12 hours. Day 2: Blend in the Dark Rye, Spelt, and White flour from Day 1. Let rise in refrigerator for 24 hours. Day 3: Knead and let rise 4 - 6 hours. Bake 475 degrees for 45 minutes. Some recipes call for mixing all the flour and water, and let set 30 - 60 minutes, to allow all the flour to completely absorb the water.. This process is called autolyse. https://bakerpedia.com/processes/autolyse/
  3. I have a close relative who seems to hold it as a badge honor that she has never attempted any type of modern communication. Not even a cell phone. She was given a cell phone by her daughter to use in case of an emergency. I asked what the cell number was and was told, with a smile on her face, “I threw it in the bottom of my purse and have no plans to ever use it.” She could connect with her children and grandkids, but refuses to do so. Go figure.
  4. Being separated physically by many miles from our families presents it’s challenges. On our minds quite often is how they are doing, what’s the latest movie they watched, how is life with the new boy friend, did they gat the package you sent? Endless little things that make our hearts grow fonder each day. When I was in the Navy in Viet Nam, without a doubt, mail call was the high light of our day. We could not wait for a letter from home or a package containing cookies or candy. A picture of our family or buddies was the absolute greatest thing. Finding out the grandparents were doing just fine was vety comforting. I wasn’t married or had a girlfriend, but my shipmates who were, longed to know about their children’s school grades and who their latest friend was. I witnessed grown men completely break down when they got a “Dear John” letter. One even jumped ship and swam ashore to the Viet Cong. My daughter and her family recently moved away from home. A promotion sent them a 1,000 miles away. Adjustment at first was quite difficult, but gradually it became easier to accept. Enter modern technology. The separation has been so much easier to accept because of IM, Facetime, and the multitude of other communication devices. My daughters family just got a new puppy, and seeing the happiness in my granddaughters faces is immeasurable. Watching them chasing the pooch or him running them down is so much fun. Viewing them live as they open their birthday gifts is so neat. Just watching them for 15 minutes drawing their latest cartoon character, or seeing them staying within the lines coloring a teddy bear. Seeing my wife’s face light up as she so intently observes their every movement, is priceless. Yes, modern technology has allowed our family to stay up to date with each other. Is it as good as physically being together? No. But, it is certainly better than waiting weeks for a letter to arrive.
  5. That is a nice looking bun...no pun intended. I'll give your advise a try and see how it works. It is fun playing with the starter. Rocky was asking about whole grain so I have been looking into making a whole grain starter also. I found a recipe that uses multiple types of whole grain flour, so think it may be on the next list to attempt. On thing about sourdough, it keeps you on your toes.
  6. Waxit: You point out you have had to explain the same verse several times and want to not dwell on it again. Fair Enough. In the same vain, why do you ignore responding numerous times to the following verses? Colossians 2:16: Let no man therefore judge you in meat, or in drink, or in respect of an holyday, or of the new moon, or of the sabbath days: Romans 14:5-6: One man esteemeth one day above another: another esteemeth every day alike. Let every man be fully persuaded in his own mind. He that regardeth the day, regardeth it unto the Lord; and he that regardeth not the day, to the Lord he doth not regard it. He that eateth, eateth to the Lord, for he giveth God thanks; and he that eateth not, to the Lord he eateth not, and giveth God thanks. Galatians 4:9-10: But now, after that ye have known God, or rather are known of God, how turn ye again to the weak and beggarly elements, whereunto ye desire again to be in bondage? 0 Ye observe days, and months, and times, and years. On the surface It would appear honoring and keeping the Sabbath is not only not required, but will force you back into bondage. Clearly, we do not to be in bondage. Stayed Too Long
  7. Most of the Christian world does not observe the Sabbath on Saturday. Why not get your message out to the rest of them, instead of butting heads with a few at GSC who you know have rejected your logic? Visit the local Catholic Church to see if you can get the priest to close their doors on Sunday, and have mass exclusively on Saturday. If he won’t, keep going back week after week, showing him the Word, and start throwing insults st him. Next hit the LDS church down the street. Pull all the missionaries aside and see if they will tell Salt Lake City to finally worship when God wants them too. Don’t forget the Baptists. Do you think they will let you thump on their pulpit demanding the observance of the Sabbath on Saturday? I doubt if you will have much success, and will soon be back at GSC trying to wrangle your dogma down our throats again.
  8. Never use Oly or Schlitz. Uggggg
  9. The problem I have had is the sourdough bread not rising. It tastes delicious, but is so compacted the loaf is about half the height of a regular slice. This doesn’t make for good sandwiches. I will use the baking soda and powder the next time and see how it goes. i saw a recipe for beer bread-haven’t tried it- but the only ingredients were beer, flour, and sugar. Just looking at the picture of the loaf, it appeared to rise to normal height. The top of the loaf was not smooth, but quite lumpy looking. The recipe did not call for self rising flour, but that may have been what was used.
  10. The bubbly substance is the sourdough starter needed as the base to all sourdough products. It sits dormant in the back of the refrigerator until it is needed to make a batch of cookies, loaf of bread, or a stack breakfast pancakes. When the starter is taken out of the refrigerator, some flour and water or milk is added, and it magically begins to bubble like a boiling pot. This is activating the yeasts to make the bread rise, that way you don’t have to add commercial yeast. The starter is what gives sourdough its unique taste. As the sourdough starter sits in back of the refrigerator undisturbed, a watery substance will form on top of the starter. This is alcohol and called hooch. I simply stir it back in; others poor it off. Supposedly stirring it back in gives it a more sour taste. A starter is easily made with lots of recipes on the internet to get you going. After you asked about whole grain bread, I started researching it on line. There are plenty of recipes out there so you can keep away from white bread. If you sitting at home with nothing to do because of the caronavirus, you might get some starter going.
  11. WW your wife uses baking powder and baking soda to get the bread to rise, which makes sense to me. What does Mrs WW think about using seltzer water instead of regular water? The carbonation action should get the bread to rise, I would think.
  12. I have never attempted whole grain, but apparently you can. Here is a website with a recipe you can look at. Are you a fan of the bubble substance? https://breadtopia.com/whole-grain-sourdough/
  13. Adding baking soda and baking powder to the pancakes does make them rise, and the sourdough flavor is maintained. Should have thought of adding to the bread receipt. Tell Mrs. Wolf thank you.
  14. I made a sourdough starter a number of years ago and have enjoyed the pancakes it makes. They have a distinct flavor and texture not in any other pancakes I’ve eaten. Keeping the starter going is not much trouble at all. However, when making bread it is a different beast entirely. Apparently the starter has to be at it’s optimal rising. I have tried many ways to determine that state without much Success. The bread always turns out very flavorful, but it is hard and extremely compacted. Somehow it needs to rise better....I have added yeast to get the rise, but the yeast also diminishes the wonderful sourdough taste. Any suggestions on how to get this rise?
  15. Waxit “It’s like people on gsc gang up on me. I am not saying everyone is like this but most except for one other person I know and have stayed with and respect.” As Wierwille used to say; “If you have the right key you can open the door.” Obviously, you do not possess the right key. GSC was set up with the idea of assisting battered, injured people who had finally escaped the clutches of TWI. Wierwille used the Corp women to commit adultery with him. His successor, Martindale, followed in his footsteps. When I say “they used the Corp women” it is more in the context of these “Men Of God,” demanded sexual submission. After all, these women should serve God’s man, and this certainly included sexually. Go back and read some of the accounts of these abused women…I doubt if some will ever fully recover. Other people were so full of condemnation when they left, or were marked and avoid, for disagreeing with the BOD. It was hammered into their heads they would be a grease spot by midnight if they turned their backs on God’s ministry. Another favorite attack was they will lose all their rewards if they turn their backs on the Man of God. These people, (me included), wondered around, often not sure If they would see the next day. Their anxiety level so high, it took all the strength they could muster, to rise out of bed each morning. If it wasn’t for a job to go to, they might never get out of bed, just hoping for the night to come. I digress because these folks needed an oasis to make sense out of what was constantly swarming around in their heads. Each needed to know they were not the problem! Enter GSC. It was not part of GSC’s mission to say we know Wierwille hurt and used you, but he did rightly divide God’s word, so let’s forgive him, and focus on the Word he so lovingly taught us. No! this remnant of TWI is to expose how corrupt and dishonest Wierwille and the leaders were; not to forgive the rats. Newbies don’t come here looking for the rightly divided word, but for needed support, love, and understanding so they can get on with their lives. If you are looking for the remnant that places importance on rightly dividing the word, you might check out John Lynn, Gerald Wrenn, Vince Finnigan, or the host of others on-line. See if these men want to rightly divide the word with you. Coming here and professing you have the rightly divided word. And then proclaim the doctrine, reproof, and correction all must follow to live a righteous life, is not the way to get the key to open the door, you seem to want to open. Look and see how others communicate in this forum. It is more of a friendly discussion than confrontation. Someone throws out an idea and others express their opinion. There is back and forth, give and take, but nothing like the thread you have started. People are not looking to end their daily discussion with, “thus sayeth the lord.” The key you are looking for, to not getting ganged up on in this forum, is to express your belief’s, and when someone disagrees, accept that their opinion is different than yours. STOP! Good luck! Stayed Too Long
  16. Waxit I seldom post, but do read most of them, and wonder why zealots, such as yourself, continue to argue your point to such a small group of opponents? You have been going round and round for a goodly amount of time, even attempting to bypass this thread, and begin a new one on the same subject. Why you attempted the new thread is up for speculation, unless you decide to declare the mystery. I notice it has been deleted. either by you or the moderators, for being in the incorrect forum. As animate and forceful as you are, I can assume you want as many people as possible to become aware of your strong beliefs. You are very livid in your understanding that the word be rightly divided, so why try to convert the posters at GSC, who repeated divide the word differently? Using your most persuasive arguments, zero have switched their dividing of the word to your right dividing. Seems you may be beating a dead horse and your time and talents better directed in another avenue. I guess, it is possible you are expending your energies to sharpen and hone your debate skills, and this is a good place to undertake such a measure. There are ample participants willing to sharpen iron against iron. IMO, and if it was me with such a strong Godly belief with so many rebuffs, it would be time to knock on the next door. As a former WOW Ambassador (twice), when I encountered unbelief at a home, my next move was to hop across the sidewalk to the next house. This was done many, many times in a day over two years. I did not go back to the same unbelieving residence over and over trying to change their minds, and hopefully bring them around to what I was selling. I don't know your background in TWI, but you may have done identical witnessing. As a WOW, I was holding forth the word with an overwhelming and strong belief I knew what God wanted for the world. This left all other occupants of the planet in the category of clueless. I gave them one chance to change their minds. Then at the end of the day, with all the other members of my WOW family, we licked our wounds, knowing we had done our best. To keep our moral up we put all those who had slammed their door on us, in the category of unbelievers, or not in God's Household. Matthew 7:6 was the scripture we ended the day with; "Do not give what is holy to the dogs; nor cast your pearls before swine, lest they trample them under their feet, and turn and tear you to pieces." Would your pearls be better cast in more fertile ground with another website or other persons? Your pearls have definitely been trampled under foot by everyone at GSC who have responded to your posts. I don't know if you realize it, or not, but you have been turned on and torn to pieces. I believe Matthew 7:6 has been rightly divided? Stayed Too Long
  17. I don’t know how many different religions use the bible as their base of belief...thousands probably. And they all have arrived at different beliefs from the same bible. Which one actually has the truth or does it matter for healing? I grew up with anxiety, depression, and ocd issues and sat across from a psychologist for about two years, and psychiatrist for four years, in addition to multiple drugs, all to no avail. I reached a point of despair and decided to actually believe God would heal me. Fully convinced God would heal me by thinking and reading healing thoughts, within weeks all the problems were lifted from me. I sat on my couch one day and all of sudden realized I was free of the constant Obsessive thoughts with me, and I was happy for the first time in decades. But there are others who have been healed who do not believe the way I do. Take for example AA. One of the requirements is to believe in a high source outside of themselves. Step 5, step 6, and step 7 all require a belief in God to bring about their healing. No particular God, just a higher power. Many people say they are indebted to AA for healing them. A car in my town has a personalized license that reads “IOU AA.” I have a friend who is an alcoholic and clean for over ten years because of AA. My point is, all have been healed by God, but believe God in different ways.
  18. One thing the offshoots seem to avoid, which TWI made front and center, and why GSC is so necessary, is the condemnation we were made to feel if we would “copt out of the word.” Hammered in our heads was we would lose all rewards, or die, if we left TWI. Martindale’s favorite blather was, “you will be a grease spot by midnight,” if you dare believe TWI was wrong and move on. You were cut off from any and all friendships you had made while associated with TWI. Many were “marked and avoid” to add additional shame and ridicule. The offshoots teach pretty much what TWI taught, but I haven’t heard any of their followers finding it hard to leave. Apparently they learned this was not a good stratagy. I have been gone along time and glad to find GSC is still here.
  19. When they build the auditorium articles of the Wierwilles were placed in the cornerstone, but don't remember it being called a time capsule.
  20. Where, oh where, have you gone? I have enjoyed your posts!
  21. If you could please pass their phone number to me I would appreciate it, so I can drive across the border and get the same satisfying customer service. Always did love my neighbors to the North!
  22. Condoleezza Rice has been asked to block the extradition of Dog and Co to Mexico. He does have some powerful friends in this country. We'll see how it comes out.
  23. I have a dog and also watch the squirrels play in my yard everyday. If my dog Snickers gets to go on a walk, has food and water, and receives some attention, she asks for nothing more. She sleeps much of the day and night, so she must not be fretting about anything that would keep her awake. The squirrels frollic all day running up and down trees, across power lines, and robbing bird feeders. They are so peaceful to watch. Thank your for the poem.
  24. Most of the Corps I came in contact with were very honest and honorable people who did want to serve God and His people. They freely gave up so much to lead and help in their areas. My hats off to them.
